MANY WILL SAY – don’t write about this now, during these Christmas days. But I think it’s necessary. And it should be exactly now that people read about how one person torments another, and the one being tortured is a young woman. And there was no force in the world that could save her or even protect her in any way. Yes, it turns out that even now, there is none...
The woman's name is Natalia Vlasova, born in 1981, detained in March 2019 in Donetsk, and held in the torture prison ISOLYATSIA.
And even if you already know the story of Natalia through the publications of Stanislav Aseyev, the Media Initiative for Human Rights, the Kharkiv Human Rights Group (HHRG), Support for Political Prisoners, Memorial, continue reading this text until the end, it’s not only about Vlasova.
Here are her statements in the Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don in September 2022:
"... at night, they brought me to Isolyatsia – this was the secret prison of the MGB of the DPR, it was called the factory of death, and its boss was [Vasiliy] Yevdokimov. At some point, I also asked to be shot while trying to escape, but no – Yevdokimov replied that I must suffer. For a long time, I didn’t know who they were or where I was, to me they were ruthless bandits. These bandits have a clear pathology; they are sadists in the strict clinical sense of the word, nothing even remotely related to legality could be found there.
Besides calling them maniacs, I can’t think of any other term, because deriving pleasure from causing pain to a naked, bound woman and performing all kinds of perversions – not everyone is capable of this, especially not officers and employees of state structures.
Yevdokimov personally filed my teeth down with a file, twisted my nipples, and tried to insert a bottle into my vagina. Let me remind you – he is the victim in this case. Meanwhile, his thugs would deliver sudden blows from different sides. For the most part, it was not them, but the UBOB (Russian Directorate for Combating Organized Crime) officers who took part in the torture, and they were equally refined in their cynical cruelty.
They stripped me, tied me up with tape, doused me with water, and connected electricity. If I didn’t scream enough, they increased the electrical charge, and the blows became more savage. They wanted a reaction, which I didn’t immediately understand, and when I screamed loud enough, I heard satisfied voices. A doctor was also present during the torture, and when I lost consciousness, he revived me with ammonia. Later, during subsequent tortures, before they could even undress me and lay me on this BDSM table, he would quickly shove a cotton ball with ammonia into my nose. It’s hard to breathe when there’s already a lack of oxygen.
After the torture, they shackled me in a glass cell with my arms raised overnight, I had no strength left, and it was difficult to stand on bruised heels, shifting from one foot to the other. They also held me in a basement, where it was only possible to sit or stand – an extremely small space. It was unbearably cold, it cut to the bone, they gave me water for an indefinite amount of time – I could only moisten my lips to wet strategic places slightly, and even during my period, that’s a whole other story – getting sanitary pads, or rather, using a T-shirt.
There was no understanding of which day or time of day it was, a complete loss of spatial awareness, a terrible fear at the sound of keys because it never promised anything good.
